You wish it would be given to you. You should give it to others. It is a welcomed gift when received and is greeted with a warm reception when delivered. It can change the course of a day and in some cases change the course of a life. It is a gift we can give that cost does not cost us a dime yet it sets on the shelf waiting for us to pass it along. What is it? The words of encouragement.
Take a deep breath and read these words slowly. Your phone rings. You look down to see it is someone you are always excited to hear from. You answer and they say, “I just called to let you know how great you are. When I am around you I always feel better. When I think about you it makes me smile and I get excited about what I am doing even when I don’t want to do it. You inspire me to be a better person and to do my best. You are incredible and I just want to let you know that no matter what you have to do this week I am praying for you to be filled with the energy, strength, patience and focus needed to be your best.”
What would a call like this do for you? When we receive encouragement it changes our perspective and redirects our focus to what we can do and what we can become. Do you know someone who could use a little encouragement? Go ahead! Call them, write them, or text them but don't let this day or this week pass without passing along the gift of encouragement to someone you care about.
What happened when you passed the gift of encouragement along?
