I am a graduate of Washington State University, earned my M.B.A. from Pepperdine University in Organization Leadership and hold an Advanced Management Certificate from Stanford University.
My business career started in sales. I've worked for great company where I earned sales and achievement awards with Northwestern Mutual Life Insurance Company, Owens-Corning Fiberglas Company, Kirk Paper Company, xpedx and International Paper Company.
Jim was named V.P. of Sales for a $500MM distribution company at the age of 29 and became the youngest Group Vice President in the 120 year history of International Paper Company.
As Group Vice President at xpedx, Jim lead a $1BB distribution business with 21 locations in the Western U.S. and serving customers around the globe with packaging, custom packaging design, facility supplies, and printing papers. Jim has authored four books including How to Win the Achievement Game, 14 Strategies for Breakthrough Performances, Tape Breakers, Maximize Your Impact with People You Love, Teams You Lead and Causes that Stir Your Heart, and a 2018 release Principles Win.
Tape Breakers debuted as the #1 New Release on Amazon in March 2016 and was recognized as a “2016 Book of the Year” along side the best selling new releases from Adam Grant, Ryan Holiday and Jake Knapp. In 2018 Tape Breakers was an Author Academy Awards “Top 10 Finalist."
Jim met a lifetime goal to retire before the age of 55. He now focuses on helping ambitious people focus their time, talent and resources on discovering the clarity to run the races that matter today and will be remembered tomorrow.
Jim met his wife Kristi at Washington State University. They have been married for 36 years and have two adult sons Matthew and Andrew that no longer require their credit card.
